Dave Mustaine and thrash metal legends Megadeth have announced UK arena dates for 2027 as part of their global farewell tour.
Entitled ‘Breakout: Hibernation Of The Nations’, Megadeth will appear at arenas across the UK, starting in Belfast, before moving through London, Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, and finishing up in Leeds. Black Label Society and fellow thrashers Testament will support.
Rather than a single farewell run, the band’s last outing has been designed as a multi-year, multi-continent celebration, giving fans around the world several opportunities to experience Megadeth live for one last time.
42 years in, Megadeth announced their impending retirement last summer. Mustaine, now 64, said he wanted to go out on his own terms and urged fans: “Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years.” It was later revealed that physical injuries also played a part in the band’s split. In December, Mustaine announced that he had radial neuropathy, or ‘wrist drop’: a condition where the radial nerve is damaged, leading to weakness in the wrist and fingers. Mustaine said that the condition made it painful for him to play guitar.
Megadeth’s last UK headline run took place in November 2015 and even though the band haven’t topped the bill on a UK tour since, they played headline performances at Bloodstock Open Air in 2017 and 2023, and supported Disturbed on “The Sickness” 25th Anniversary Tour late last year.
While Megadeth released their final, self-titled studio album in January, including the lead single ‘Tipping Point’, it’s rumoured the band are set to release a greatest hits album.
Tickets pre-sales start at 9am on Wednesday (August 5), with general sale kicking off at 10am on Friday (August 7).
